Have you ever dreamed of becoming a movie star? Of being associated with icons such as Beverly Hills, Rodeo Drive or Grauman's Chinese Theatre? Besides having these world famous sights, California has an abundance of hidden treasures and immense natural wonders.
Los Angeles and its numerous suburbs are a performing artist's dream, filled with working film and TV studios, museums and talent agencies. The Warner Brothers Studios in Burbank offers a VIP Tour to admit tourists for viewing behind-the-scenes sets and props. A short drive to Anaheim would be ideal for a day at Disneyland.
Fans of classic Hollywood memorabilia should make a beeline for the Hollywood History Museum. The museum is conveniently located in the former Max Factor Makeup Building on the corner of Hollywood and Highland. Collections include items from the likes of Lucille Ball, Bob Hope and Marilyn Monroe.
Northeast of the busy metropolises of Southern California is secluded Sequoia National Park. Quiet and serene, it has trails winding through innumerable astronomical sized Sequoia trees. The General Sherman Tree in the park is the largest living organism on earth. Observing these monstrous natural wonders is almost overwhelming. Also, a hike to Moro Rock has a magnificent view of the Western Divide.
Just north of Sequoia is the mother of national parks: Yosemite. Her towering peaks and shimmering waterfalls take one's breath away at first sight. The most prominent feature of the park is the Half Dome, a huge rock formation in the center of Yosemite. The Taft Point Trail has extraordinary views of Yosemite Valley from 7,500 feet
Directly west of Yosemite is the wonderful city of San Francisco. Bike rentals are available for a highly recommended ride across the Golden Gate Bridge. A thrilling trip to Alcatraz is a favorite among tourists. Shopping in Chinatown, riding a cable car and going to Muir Woods are also top of the list of things to do in San Francisco. The city is known for its famous sourdough bread factories and Ghiradelli chocolates. Beautiful San Francisco is an ideal place to relax and take in rich culture at the same time.
Thrills come in all shapes and sizes in California. The Golden State offers so many ways to have a memorable, enjoyable trip. Before you know it, you might be humming the tune "California Here I Come."
