Keep bathrooms clean, please

Public restrooms are often neglected because they’re not exactly a social hotspot — people only go in there for obvious reasons. Like public restrooms in other schools, the ones at Winfield needs some help. In my four years at the school, many complaints have been made, but the problems still remain.

All of the problems are minor, but they add up to a major headache. The sinks leak, and so do the toilets. There are almost never any paper towels, though there is always more than enough toilet paper.

Another problem is the water pressure. All of the sinks on the second floor are push sinks (where you depress the knob with one hand while washing the other and then switch). The push sinks usually have no water coming out of them at all, or the water pressure is so low that you have to push as hard as you can and when the water does come, it bursts out and splashes everywhere.

As for the toilets themselves, only two or three stalls on each side actually shut and lock. But the ones that do lock have holes, so you feel like everyone can see you, and the ones that do not lock will not stay closed.

I am not trying to insult my school or its staff. There are good things about the bathrooms — like that the machines are usually stocked and are not too expensive, and that there are usually two or three rolls of toilet paper per stall. Also, there are never really long lines, even in the women’s bathroom, and there are plenty of mirrors and sinks per restroom.

However, the problems we have are aggravating, and I would like to see something done about them — if not for my class, then for future students.
