Lauren Nagy (center), pictured with Smoke on the Water Chili Cook-off committee member John Auge and chairwoman Jennifer Piercy-Igo, created the winning logo for this year's event. Her design was revealed at Capitol Market's Green Chili Shoot-Out on March 17.

And the winner is...

Lauren Nagy, a 17-year-old senior at George Washington High School, has smoked the competition to take top honors in the FlipSide/Smoke on the Water Chili Cook-off Art Contest.

For her winning effort, Nagy receives $150 and the honor of having her design placed on the cook-off T-shirts, the official cook-off Web site and the cover of the Sunday Gazette-Mail's Smoke on the Water advertising supplement. She also gets to see her artwork on promotional products and in newspaper ads.

Nagy's award-winning design was revealed at the Green Chili Shoot-Out at Capitol Market on March 17. It's actually a combination of the two logos that she submitted, which were incorporated into one final design. She will be officially recognized at the ninth annual Smoke on the Water Chili Cook-off, which will take place June 9 at Appalachian Power Park.

This is the third year that Nagy has participated in the logo contest. She is a student of Olivia Ash Turner at George Washington.

Thirty student artists submitted logos in this year's competition.
