Crocs take a bite out of fashion

People of all ages — and even animals — have taken pride in the way they look since the dawn of time. Many styles only last for a month or a season, but they live on in our photos for life.

Every time we give in to a trend, we hope that it will be the one to last, but usually it doesn’t. Surprisingly, though, as it looks right now, one current trend might have some staying power: Crocs.

What’s that? You don’t know what Crocs are? They’re those comfy, colorful shoes made solely of rubber with cute polka dot-like holes on the top.

Crocs are pushing their way into shoe store windows worldwide and jumping into the shopping bags of men and women of all different ages. They’re made to adorn anyone’s feet, no matter the gender, and they come in many different varieties. The original, called “The Beach,” is still the most popular, though.

Before Crocs began appearing in stores, potato shoes were hot. But now, those boring brown clogs are being replaced by colorful Crocs.

Looking at the vast selection of these wild and crazy shoes, you may think you’re looking at a rainbow. But don’t worry, they have neutral colors, too, for those of you who are less adventurous.

Another great thing about Crocs is that they go with everything from jeans and t-shirts to skirts and sweaters.

“My brother bought me a pair of Crocs for my birthday, and I love them. They go with everything in your closet, even that hideous frilly sweater your grandma gave you for Christmas. And you can wear them all the time. Whether at the pool or the mall, they’re good for anywhere!” said junior Bree Johnson.

And unlike socks and sandals, socks and Crocs are an acceptable match. Just don’t wear them together in the rain or near a sprinkler — the holes might be a slight setback if you want to keep your feet dry.

The only other setback is that Crocs are so cute and affordable (approximately $30 a pair) that you might want to buy every pair you see. But, please, resist that urge. We all want a chance to grab some.

Any local shoe store should have them, so go get a pair and step out in style. You can wear them in the winter or wear them in the summer. Just know that whenever you wear them and however you wear them, you are wearing them in style.
