Opinions from students around the valley

I just want this whole ordeal to disappear

It feels like the world should stop, or maybe it did. I don't really know what to think anymore. I would be lying if I said I still feel safe, but I would also be lying if I said I don't. My faith in this country is fleeting, but not yet gone.

This tragedy will live in our minds forever

Is there a word to describe the feelings that have taken over our country? Terror. Fear. Horror. Dread. Shock. Panic. Sadness. Grief. Sorrow. Misery. And the list goes on.

Reactions of peers frustrate student

The destruction of the World Trade Center and the Pentagon is on the front page of every significant newspaper in the world. Freedom in America as we now know it is challenged. They say that this is the Pearl Harbor of our generation, but they may be wrong.

We're still standing

A big cloud of smoke and dust -- that's all that's left of the World Trade Center's twin towers after the Sept. 11 attack. Now, we are left here to make sense of it all and what we can do to prevent it from happening again.

Drive-through experience leaves student fried

I was mugged! I was the victim of a drive-through robbery on a Sunday night. The crime was not committed by your average thief, however.

Few are immune to the 12th-grade epidemic

When the time comes and you’re finally a senior, you develop the sense that there is absolutely nothing to worry about. That’s when something comes into play known as “senioritis.”

Music tunes you up for life

Even if you don’t enjoy it, music does have an impact on all aspects of life. Babies are sung to sleep, lovers dance to strains of melodies in the moonlight and loved ones are laid to rest with lyrics of endearment.

All too soon, good times become memories

When asked what they will remember about high school, Poca High seniors gave answers like “friends and the good times we’ve had,” “show choir and the trips we took,” “sports and the friends I made during the seasons” and “football games and homecoming activities.”
